Human Rights Institute Student Internship Funding Opportunities
Victor Schachter ’64 Rule of Law Award
This award, up to $5000, is given to outstanding seniors completing a minor in Human Rights & enrolled in an international internship or study abroad program with a focus on human rights. Any student pursuing an international internship experience in human rights is welcome to apply, but preference will be given to students pursuing an experience in India and/or emphasizing the rule of law. Application Deadline is March 30th
Human Rights Institute Student Internship Award
These awards, u p to $2500, are given to outstanding students completing a minor in Human Rights & enrolled in an internship program with a human rights organization, with preference given to students studying and/or working abroad. Students must be participating in an internship as part of the Group C Internship requirement. Application Deadlines are October 30 for Spring/Summer Awards and March 30 for Summer/Fall Awards.
UConn Human Rights Internship Fund
This fund, established by the Human Rights Institute faculty and staff, provides awards in varying amounts up to $1000 to students pursuing internship opportunities with human rights organizations outside the local region. Students must be pursuing a Minor in Human Rights and be participating in an internship or study abroad program for academic credit. Application deadlines are October 30 for Spring/Summer Awards and March 30 for Summer/Fall Awards.
South Africa International Human Rights Exchange Award
This award, up to $5000, is given to an outstanding student pursuing a Minor in Human Rights and enrolled in the International Human Rights Exchange program in Johannesburg, South Africa. Intended to offset the program tuition and expenses, this award is given once per year. Application deadline is March 1.
Human Rights Internship Travel Grants
These awards are made available to students pursuing a Minor in Human Rights and participating in an internship as part of the Group C Internship requirement. Students may apply for reimbursement of travel expenses associated with internship work, including automobile mileage, bus, train, and airfare, and lodging. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Richard Goldstone Internship at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
The University of Connecticut Human Rights Institute announces a competition for graduating UConn seniors with a Human Rights Minor for the Richard Goldstone Internship at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. This six-month internship at the ICTY in The Hague, Netherlands, will provide supervised working experience in the Research Unit of the Office of the Prosecutor. The internship comes with $6000 funding towards accommodation and travel expenses. The selected student will still have to apply through the ICTY internship process.
