Journal
of Human Rights
A Note from the Editor of the Journal
of Human Rights, Thomas Cushman:
After five years as editor, Thomas Cushman
is stepping down as editor-in-chief of the Journal
of Human Rights. For the last five
years, we have developed a journal of the highest caliber
and depth, and it has been my pleasure to work in this venture.
As of Volume 6, which will appear in early 2007, The new
editor will be Professor Richard Hiskes, of the University
of Connecticut. Professor Hiskes will be supported by the
strong new human rights program at the University, and I
am confident that he will continue to produce the highest
quality journal possible. Please direct all new submissions
to him at JHR@uconn.edu.

Namaste: a student
human rights journal

Namaste is a student human rights journal
here at the University of Connecticut that publishes fiction
and creative pieces, non-fiction papers and essays, poetry,
photography and art work. “Namaste” is a common
Hindi greeting. The array of contexts in which it is used gives
it a transcendent quality. It has, over time, come to be interpreted
as something of a universal gesture of empathy and good will.
With the publication of each issue of Namaste the Human Rights
Institute seeks to evoke the very same sentiments that are
embodied in the phrase from which it derives its name.
For additional
information about Namaste please email humanrights@uconn.edu.
