Congratulations to Profs. Armaline, Glasberg (UConn), and Purkayastha (UConn) for winning the 2013 Hirabayashi Book Award from the American Sociological Association Human Rights Section 2013! The award was given at the 2013 annual conference of the ASA. The Awards committee spoke highly of their book: Human Rights in Our Own Backyard: Injustice and Resistance in the United States.
The book was edited by:
Dr. William T. Armaline, a faculty member of the Department of Justice Studies at San Jose State University, Dr. Davita Silfen Glasberg, a Professor of Sociology and Associate Dean of Social Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut, and Dr. Bandana Purkayastha, a Professor of Sociology at the University of Connecticut.
